For the Love of Wreaths!

 Ramadan & Eid Wreath

One of my favorite decor and gifting items is the Ramadan and Eid wreath. It provides such a warm welcome to a home, apartment or even a room! In addition, it gives your neighbors a nice little reminder (da'wa brownie points) that it's the holiday season without going all out and decorating an entire house with lights. Making it is super kid-friendly and I love how easy it is to personalize the colors, textures, and words. Over the years, I've made so many of these and they never cease to amaze! They can also be made on a budget or be made totally fancy! Let's get right into it, the possibilities are endless...

Materials:

Base Wreath: Oh so many types here! Pick yours based on your style and the style of your home!

  1. So there's your traditional grapevine wooden looking wreath, very clssy and versatile. You can always get this and spray paint different color to wake it up! Like this: Look Here
  2. Foam is a very modern, clean looking wreath See Here
  3. Wire wreath for those who love burlap and ribbons galore....very fabulous!
  4. Leafy based is very classical like here

Decorations: The fun part!

  1. Floral: again very traditional yet can be spiced up to fun. Flowers come in all shapes, sizes and colors! You can even make your own if you're feeling adventurous with materials like felt, silk, and even tissue paper.
  2. Artifacts: I guess I mean pretty things, so here you can use almost anything that can fit on your wreath! Cute little items that are holiday related such as crescents, stars, lanterns, even (faux) dates!  Kids can be so imaginative and helpful in bringing good ideas.
  3. Lights: YES, I said lights! There are so many LED battery operated small lights that can easily be tucked away behind a wreath, keep your options open!

Wording: Get creative here!

  1. So, there are many Islamic shops that sell wording that perfectly fits on wreaths such as Eidway or Simply Impressions
  2. Small wooden letters sold at craft stores can be painted and attached to make quite an impressive display.
  3. Small wooden panels are also super easy and cheap! Simply write on it with a permanent marker or get super fancy by burning it with a pen burner.
  4. Finally, attaching a ribbon across the width of the wreath is a great way to make an open canvas for writing.

I hope you all enjoy these tips and make the most beautiful wreaths to hang for the coming Ramadan and Eid!
